What is it that makes New York so special?
- Diversity, edge, density.
What's the purpose with the photoblog?
- Start was inspired by ParisDailyPhoto as seen by my friend Lucy who proposed the idea and worked on it with me the first few months. The original concept is to give a slice of daily life for outsiders. I have gone much further with the site. I try to find the lesser known or give a personal side to known.
For how long have you been taking photographs of the city?- For this website, since March 2006.
Describe the typical New Yorker.- Clichéd, but there really are not many typical New Yorkers. Many, many are new to this country or city. Ethnic minorities. In time though most that stays do become very street smart, confident, and able to keep up with the speed and competition.
For a first time visitor what would your advice be to see, stay away
from and to do?- There are very few things in NYC to avoid - any of the classic things are worthwhile. For activities I would recommend TimeOut New York - everything is listed. One could scroll my site for some ideas- soon I will have it organized by categories etc. The list is too long for here - perhaps I should put together something comprehensive on my blog.
